Nathan Hubbard & the New Encinitas Philharmonic – Encinitas and Everything After

We last worked with Nathan Hubbard for our Bridges and Boundaries show this past June. He improvised solo percussion on this highly unusual kit which included a gong, metal pieces vibrating through guitar pedals and rattling chain links thrown on top of the drums for good measure.

This Saturday Nathan will be presenting music of an entirely different breed…

Saturday, October 4, 7:00-9:00pm. Encinitas Library 540 Cornish Drive. $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $11 seniors and students

In 2014 Nathan Hubbard released a five volume, nearly five hour long large work called Encinitas and Everything After. In many ways a love song to Encinitas, Hubbard spent 15 years composing, performing, collecting and recording piece inspired by the area and surrounding locations. This performance will feature The New Encinitas Philharmonic, a 12 piece ensemble put together in 2014 to perform this music. The release is up for ‘Best Jazz Album’ at this year’s SD Music Awards.
