This coming Monday, May 7th, the Ruthless Hippies will be putting on their monthly ‘Freak for All’ at E-Street Cafe from 7-9 PM (every 1st Monday!). This is the open mic for open minds: a loosely organized and highly improvisational affair featuring poetry, music and whatever else people want to share on stage. Let your freak flag fly! Exactly one week from today, Wednesday May 9th, will be the next Poetry Ruckus at Ducky Waddle’s. The poetry Ruckus features insane poetic talent from all over San Diego in the intimate setting of Ducky Waddle’s Emporium–north county’s funkiest book store and art gallery (414 N Coast Hwy 101 Encinitas).
Doors open at 7 PM and the local poets get their read on around 7:30 PM. The guest poet goes on around 9PM and this month we will be having none other than Encinitas’ own Poet Laureate, Trish ‘The Dish’ Dugger! Trish has been a mainstay of the Full Moon Poet’s La Paloma Slam since it’s inception, and was awarded with the Poet Laureate title by Encinitas City Council in 2005. She might be in her 80’s, but she’s still writing new poems that pack a punch (if you don’t believe me, check this video below from the last La Paloma Slam). Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Trish feature at the Ruckus!!!
