Here’s the Ruthless picks for good time music this weekend:

Suki Berry live at E-Stree Cafe tonight (Friday 5/25) 7:30-9:30
The Beach Boys are playing at Cricket tonight, but they’re very old, the show is really expensive and none of your friends want to go. Go to E-Street Cafe instead! Free to enter. There you will find Suki strumming on her uki, and singing songs about awesomely weird stuff. She’s one of a kind. Don’t miss it!

Semisi and FulaBula 8PM at Calypso Cafe, Friday (5/25)
Also tonight, if you’re looking for some fine drinks and dinner to go along with some fine jamming music, head to Calypso Cafe to see Semisi & FulaBula. Semisi (guitar and vocals) has the full band playing tonight with Keli and Tonga switching around on keys bass and steel drums, Monette on percussion and Gary on drums. Best island music in town. Bula!

Boaz: thrash jazz concert 7-10PM Saturday night (5/26) @ Surfy Surfy (974 N Coast Hwy 101)
Boaz is another sweet band confirmed for Summer Fun on the 101: Leucadia’s Music Festival. On June 30th they will be the grande finale, live scoring a soundtrack to Ray Orate’s surf film ‘Quantum Events of a Stoke Junkie . But why wait until June to see them shred? They are playing a free show at Surfy Surfy to celebrate the shop’s second anniversary. Rumors are circulating rapidly about guest appearances from Rick James & the Ice Cold IPAs.

Sunday, Sunday!!! Gilbert Castellanos presents an all star tribute to the San Diego Jazz Legends featuring Daniel Jackson, Mundell Lowe, Marshall Hawkins, Gary LeFebvre, Carlos Vazquez, and more Sunday (5/27) Tango Del Rey 3567 Del Rey Street, San Diego 92109

Dizzy’s always puts on the best damn jazz shows in San Diego. They usually take place downtown, but this one’s in Pacific Beach, right off the 5 Freeway–which means a much shorter journey with way fewer drunk frat boys to avoid. Be there!
