We know Sherwin Ginez (aka Re-Verse) looks kind of scary in this picture, but that’s the way we love him. Anybody who saw Re-Verse cover Marshall ‘Soulful’ Jones’ ode to Heath Ledger and Hollywood recently would have to agree that he is a scary good performer. That’s why we’re proud to be giving him our feature spot at the Poetry Ruckus this Wednesday night (12/12/12!!!) @ Ducky Waddle’s Emporium (414 N Coast Hwy 101 Encinitas).
When he’s not doing his best Joker impression, Re-Verse is filling notebooks and stages like the Ruckus and Glassless Minds with daft and heartfelt verses. Here’s a snippet from ‘Imperfect’, one of our favorite poems from his chap book, Raw Iced Tea:
When God said, ‘Let there be light.”
He seared sunlight into the blueprint of your lips
So your smile would be the first morning
I woke up from nonexistence
He painted constellations
Into the spine of your soul
So when I’d hug you
I can tell people what it’s like
to hold the universe in my arms
