Darius Degher Album Release Party

We are proud to be hosting  a CD release party for Darius Deher this Sunday May 10th at Tower 13 beach Bar in Cardiff by the Sea (2633 S Coast Hwy 101). Imo Haliloglu & Friends will be the opening band with their eclectic electric Mesopotamia grooves! Free show goes 1-4PM.

Darius (Degher) will be releasing his 6th CD “Eleven Story Strum” on May 10th. In the 1990s the San Diego Union Tribune said Darius’ song lyrics were “so wondrous, so vital, that they should be scripted on parchment, bound in fine leather and handed out”; the L.A. Reader called him “Hollywood’s poet laureate.” But the momentum dissipated when Darius moved to a different country and changed his name, twice. (He says, “I had to – Darius Rucker ruined my real one!”) When he did finally return to California, with his real name, after a dozen years, his 2012 CD was nominated for a San Diego Music Award. But he managed to play only one show that year, so no one really knew about the CD. The new CD, “Eleven Story Strum,” features obscure songs about the Mars Rover, a murder at a Burger King, and watching TV. These days, Darius can be found wandering the beaches of North County muttering to himself, “Lyrics should be important – even in San Diego.”

Party with us!

Darius will also be featured poet at Gelato Poetry tonight (Friday 5/8) at Koky’s Ice Cream in Old Town (2375 San Diego Ave). Free event goes 7-9PM!
