The summer crowds might be gone but there’s still a ton of cool stuff to do in north county this weekend. We bring you to exhibit A: the Carlsbad Music Festival. This three day event bills itself as ‘adventurous music by the beach’ and it brings the goods.  Lots of our favorite local musicians will be playing, like Mattson 2, Trouble in the Wind, Peter Sprague & Gilbert Castellanos, the Second Cousins, Red Fox Tails, the Paragraphs, Freako Sauve and way more.

Events start tonight at 5 PM with the Village Music Walk featuring 20+ acts performing 40+ sets over 5 hours in the middle of Carlsbad Village. Unfortunately there’s no prizes for catching all 40+ performances.  Check out tonight’s line up here.

Saturday and Sunday will feature a mix of free and ticketed indoor and outdoor events. Catch that schedule over here.

We’re loadin’ up our woodies with the boards inside and headin’ over to Moonlight Beach for the Wavecrest Woodie Meet on Saturday! And don’t miss one of Encinitas’ best young rock groups, Ladies Love Outlaws performing from noon to one. People like to think that kids these days all love dub step and hip hop, but Ladies Love Outlaws plays a great mix of 50’s/60’s rock and roll, rhythm and blues and rockabilly. The kids are alright. Actually, they’re awesome. Check ’em out!

Even more things to do tonight, we’ve got Raen presents Moon Rockers. It’s Jack Coleman’s third film, featuring the surfing of Alex Knost, Kassia Meador, Ford Archbold and way more. Jack’s films usually involve a crazy filtering process where he paints directly over the film. It’s pretty damn trippy and beautiful. Matt Mclure will provide music. More info here.

And last but not least, there’s two really big festivals tonight (Friday), 91.1X X-Fest (Blink 182, The Offspring, Jimmy Eat World and more) and Magic 92.5 Old School Block Party (Rob Base, Sugar Hill Gang, Zapp Furious 5 and more). A few ticket’s still available to both.
